Rubberwood is the wood from the Para rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis). Originally found in the Amazon rainforest of Brazil, this hardy species is now grown in many tropical areas, notably in Southeast Asia. This versatile wood, also known by the more elegant sounding names, “white mahogany” or “Malaysian Oak,” is also used for making items as diverse as children’s toys and cutting boards.
